Knowing how to fix uneven eyes helps you make an informed decision about which treatment to choose.
As the famous saying goes, “The eyes are the window to the soul.” However, uneven eyes ruin your overall look. Knowing how to fix uneven eyes helps you solve this problem.
Not everyone has symmetrical eyes. Some were born with asymmetrical eyes. Others had one eye bigger than the other because of severe trauma from accidents or botched surgeries.
So how can you treat uneven eyes? How important are your eyes to your face?
In this article, I will talk about eye symmetry and its importance. I will also explain how you can treat uneven eyes.
Knowing how to fix uneven eyes includes understanding the golden ratio.
The golden ratio is the universal standard of beauty. Any object that follows this principle is considered beautiful.
Interestingly, the golden ratio has been used in many visual-related fields such as photography, sculpture, and architecture.
During the Renaissance, well-known artists and architects used an equation to make their masterpieces. Thousands of years later, scientists used the said equation so they can make sense of what people considered beautiful.
This equation is the golden ratio.
In a gist, the golden ratio is a mathematical basis of beauty. It is an objective measurement of aesthetics that many experts, including I, use to gauge beauty.
Interestingly, I used the golden ratio to determine the world’s most attractive man― Robert Pattinson. My findings have been widely recognized by the media (e.g. CNN, People Magazine, Elle).
Given the validity of the golden ratio in measuring beauty, the formula applies to facial symmetry. Therefore, if a face has the golden ratio, that face is symmetrical. In turn, people perceive a symmetrical face as attractive.
Knowing how to fix uneven eyes involves understanding the importance of eye symmetry.
As its name suggests, eye symmetry describes eyes that are symmetrical. Just like they do with the face, people perceive symmetrical eyes as attractive.
When you have symmetrical eyes, people are more likely to trust you. They will see you as an approachable person as well. Therefore, eye symmetry does not solely make you more attractive. It makes people see you as an approachable and trustworthy person as well.
Given these, having symmetrical eyes becomes a great way to invest in yourself. From giving you more confidence to helping you boost your career, symmetrical eyes are worth your hard-earned money.
Knowing how to fix uneven eyes involves understanding the relationship between facial golden ratio and eye symmetry.
Eye symmetry is a crucial factor in facial symmetry.
Unfortunately, when your eyes are asymmetrical, it doesn’t matter if the rest of your face is symmetrical. Your face still won’t fit the principles of the golden ratio. In short, your face will still be considered asymmetrical.
Remember, eye symmetry is and always will be an important aspect of facial symmetry. So, if you want your face to fit the principles of the golden ratio, you must treat your eyes.
Knowing how to fix uneven eyes involves understanding blepharoplasty.
If you have been wondering how to fix uneven eyes, this section explains the right treatment for you.
One of the main reasons why cosmetic surgeons perform blepharoplasty is to fix uneven eyes. By manipulating the look of the eyelids, cosmetic surgeons can fix strange-looking eyes. In short, blepharoplasty can give you symmetrical eyes.
There are two types of blepharoplasty: upper blepharoplasty and lower blepharoplasty.
A cosmetic surgeon does upper blepharoplasty on the upper eyelids. On the other hand, a surgeon performs lower blepharoplasty on the upper eyelids.
While surgeons perform upper and lower blepharoplasty on different areas, the two frequently complement each other. A full blepharoplasty improves your eyes’ appearance, making you look more attractive and approachable.
Depending on your doctor, upper, lower, or complete blepharoplasty may be done to give you even eyes.
As I stated, lower blepharoplasty is performed on the lower eyelids.
During lower blepharoplasty, a fibrous layer called the orbital septum is opened. This reveals the eye’s orbital fat pockets.
I follow a conservative approach to fix the lower eyelids. Known as fat transposition, I immediately transfer the fat on the lower eyelids to the cheeks.
To enhance the results, I use a canthopexy stitch to support the lower eyelid. The said stitch is completely hidden and usually dissolves a few weeks after the surgery.
As I stated, upper blepharoplasty is performed on the upper eyelids.
During upper blepharoplasty, I first use incisions. I cannot use the crease on the upper eyelid if the patient has uneven eyes.
Since we are talking about fixing uneven eyes here, I cannot use the crease to guide me in making the incisions. Instead, I will use accurate measurements to mark the point of incision.
Then, I will move the excess skin. I have to do this very carefully since inadequate skin removal leads to residual hanging skin. In contrast, removing too much skin results in dry eyes.
Once the fat and excess skin are removed, I will stitch your skin up. Doing this smoothens and tightens your upper eyelids.
Depending on your goals, you might have to have other procedures.
At my clinic, blepharoplasty lasts for an hour to an hour and a half. It may take longer depending on your condition and the presence of complementary procedures such as deep plane facelift and rhinoplasty (aka nose job).
Knowing how to fix uneven eyes involves knowing the benefits of blepharoplasty.
As I mentioned, blepharoplasty can give you even eyes. By giving you even eyes, blepharoplasty offers many benefits. Here are the top benefits of blepharoplasty:
1. Even eyes make you look more attractive.
One of the main reasons why patients seek treatment for asymmetrical eyes is their desire to look more attractive. Without a doubt, even eyes can make you look more beautiful.
Remember, there’s nothing wrong with wanting to be more attractive. If you can do something to enhance your look, go for it.
2. Even eyes boost your confidence.
When your eyes look attractive, you feel great about yourself. When you feel great about yourself, you become more confident.
Hence, even eyes give you the extra boost of confidence you might have been needing for a long time.
3. Even eyes can prevent further complications.
In some cases, eye asymmetry can lead to dryness and vision problems.
Fixing your uneven eyes early on can prevent the said complications from occurring. If you can, have your asymmetrical eyelids treated as soon as possible.
While often an aesthetic issue, eyelid asymmetry can be a medical issue as well. Hence, it’s best if you have a cosmetic surgeon check your eyes.
However, you should not just go to any cosmetic surgeon. You must consult one with extensive experience and qualifications on how to fix uneven eyes. If you want to consult an expert cosmetic surgeon, book a consultation with me today.
